Faculty and Staff Parking

Assigned Parking
All full-time and part-time Wayne State University faculty and staff are eligible for assigned parking. Assigned parking is on a pre-paid basis, either by payroll deduction or payment in full at the beginning of a semester, at the rates approved by the Board of Governors.

If you are a full-time nine or 12-month WSU employee and are on Wayne State University payroll, you should participate in the payroll deductions program to meet parking fees. Payroll deductions are taken out pre-taxed unless you fill out a Pre-Tax Parking Deduction Waiver Form.

If you are not on regular Wayne State University payroll, you may pay in credit (Visa/MasterCard) or check (no starter checks) at the beginning of each term at the Parking/OneCard office in the Welcome Center, room 257.

The assigned parking permit does not guarantee you a reserved space, but only the opportunity to park within a specific area within a parking structure or lot. If you need to change your assigned parking area, please contact the Parking/OneCard office at 576-PARK (7275) or stop by the Welcome Center, room 257. Please note that changes can be made only if space is available.

General Parking
If you choose not to join the assigned parking program, you may park in general parking areas available in any of the numbered parking lots or in the student areas of parking structures. Most general parking lots are gate controlled and operate on a paid entry and free exit.
You should use your OneCard to pay for general parking. You can deposit funds online to your OneCard account via a credit card (Visa/MasterCard) (link to Pipeline), at a Cash System Value Terminal or by check at the Parking/OneCard office located in the Welcome Center, room 257.

To enter a general parking lot swipe your OneCard and the fee is debited from your personal account. Funds deposited online at Pipeline and at a CSVT machine are available immediately. Funds deposited with a check at the Parking/OneCard office are available within 24 hours. Using your OneCard saves you $1.50 per use at most general parking areas. Make sure you use your OneCard and “Save”!
Please note that rates are subject to change.

Motorcycle Parking
Wayne State University Parking and Transportation Services permits validly licensed motorcycles to park in WSU parking lots and structures. For more information please click here.

Canceling Parking
To cancel your parking, complete the Cancellation Form and bring it to the Parking/OneCard office located on the second floor of the Welcome Center, room 257,  with your parking permit (hang tag).  All cancellations are processed from the day notice is received and your hangtag is returned (unless it is expired), not your last day of work.

Refunds
Refunds will be processed for any unused, prepaid parking after you cancel your parking at Wayne State University provided your parking account is in good standing with no unpaid parking violations.

Temporary Leave
Faculty or staff who temporarily leave Wayne State University for medical or other reasons may find it financially beneficial to stop and restart their parking. You must be off work for a minimum of 20 work days before parking can be stopped and restarted. Please note that you must contact the Parking/OneCard office at 576-PARK (7275) before leaving and upon returning to Wayne State University to stop and restart parking.

Metered Parking
Metered parking is available throughout campus. The majority of metered parking is on the City of Detroit streets and is monitored by the Municipal Parking Department, not Wayne State University.

Wayne State University metered parking is available at parking lots 21(located on Antoinette), 58 (Physics Building) and Scott Hall.

Wayne State University enforces its own meters twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. Please report broken Wayne State University meters to the Parking/OneCard office by calling 577-3704.
