Parking and transportation information for employees for fall 2020
Dear faculty and staff,
WSU Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) has worked diligently throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to continue providing parking and transportation amenities. Due to the reduced number of individuals and in-person classes on campus, and in order to minimize expenses, Parking Structures 3, 4 and 5 will remain closed.
Individuals who pay the daily rate to park in Structure 3 can park in either Structure 1 or Structure 8, or they can pay the difference to park at Structure 6. Individuals who park at Structure 4 are to use Lot 75, and those who park at Structure 5 can park in either Structure 1 or Structure 2. An announcement will be sent to the campus when these structures reopen. Anyone who needs to change their parking assignment can call the OneCard/Parking Service center to make the request. Upgrades or downgrades to payroll deductions may require completion of an online form. Structure 6 will reopen Monday, Aug. 17, 2020, with the start of fall semester passes.
Semester and daily parking is available throughout campus. Semester parking is presently on sale and the rates will remain the same for fall 2020. To purchase your semester parking, visit the online parking portal. For information regarding current rates, please visit the PTS website.
For individuals in the payroll deduction program, payroll deductions were suspended in April and the suspension of the deductions will continue through August. PTS is currently working with senior leadership on a plan for the restart of the deductions. More information will be provided when it is available. In the meantime, 12-month and nine-month faculty/staff enrolled in the parking program will continue to have access at their current assigned lot(s) and/or structure(s). Deductions will resume once a final decision is established. To enroll in the assigned parking program, complete and submit the online form. To cancel your parking, complete and submit the cancellation form.
Campus shuttles
Due to social distancing limitations on minibuses, as well as cost savings with the small number of individuals on campus, PTS will not operate the campus shuttles during the fall semester. If you need to get around campus, both DDOT and SMART buses are currently operating at no charge to the riders. You can also use MOGO, our partnered bike share program, or any of the e-scooter companies authorized by the City of Detroit. Typically, the scooters are staged near campus on City of Detroit property. For more information, visit the WayneRides website.
PTS looks forward to your return and providing parking and transportation services to everyone on campus. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at parking@wayne.edu or by calling the OneCard/Parking Service Center at 313-577-CARD (2273).
