Upcoming changes at Lot 41 and Structure 2

Parking & Transportation Services

As you may know, Wayne State is preparing to construct a residential complex that will offer more than 800 beds and 18,000 square feet of retail space along Anthony Wayne Drive. The WSU community is invited to the groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, April 21, at 11 a.m. in Lot 41, with a reception to follow at 11:30 a.m. in St. Andrew's Hall.

Because the new building footprint covers all of Lot 41 as well as additional space south along Anthony Wayne Drive, all parking in Lot 41 will permanently end on or shortly after April 24.

Parking at Structure 2 will also be affected by the construction. The current east entry facing Anthony Wayne Drive will permanently close on or shortly after April 24. At that time, all entrance to and exit from the structure will go through existing gates on the west and north sides of of the structure. The current separation between the faculty/staff and student parking areas within the structure will be removed, allowing everyone to enter and park as they choose.

The OneCard/Parking Service Center will contact parkers assigned to Lot 41 to change their assignments in advance of the closure. Daily parkers will be directed to use other available WSU parking.

Several small renovations to existing gates in Structure 2 will be required to implement these permanent changes and will begin shortly, to be completed by mid-May. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please know that while these enhancements will alter current parking practices, they are necessary to support this important student housing project as Wayne State continues to focus on long-term university and student success.

If you have questions, please write to us or call the OneCard/Parking Service Center at 313-577-2273.
